Hey, look what I found!
In my ongoing “trying to clean a tiny bit each day” project, I was working on one of the bookshelves and then took notice at one object tucked into the top corner. Turns out, it’s a box—well, make-up case, if I were to guess at the intended user scenario—filled with journalling/blogging prompts.
A lot of blogging prompts, all copied in purple pen onto little rectangles of blue and green card stock.
Now that I see them, I have a vague recollection of finding, printing and copying out these all. Don’t quite remember when, but it was definitely in Philadelphia, so that’s at least 7 years back. Or more.
Anyhow, this being another one of those nights where I don’t have a topic ready-to-mind, I guess I’m going to take the opportunity to start a new blog category of questions “From the Hat,” and see what card I end up drawing.
(Drum roll….)
100 things I want to do this summer…
Aw, hell to the no. I’m trying to use this in order to blog faster, not to chain myself to the computer until I come up with a hundred item list! I’m also amused to have drawn this card in the middle of January, being that summer is rather a long ways away from here.
But in the spirit of accepting the random draw of the cards, I’ma going with this. Let’s see if I can get up to 20.
- Have another chance to do summer Shakespeare
- Try paddle-boarding
- Have friends over for a barbecue
- See the ocean again
- Play mini golf
- Watch a baseball game live
- Read a bunch of books*
- Enjoy Richardson’s ice cream outside
- Skip the 4th of July fireworks
- Nap in the hammock
- Have champagne with a hamburgers & hot dogs cookout
- Spend a week up at the lake
- See the NH loons
- Have a ukulele singalong on the porch
- Go swimming
- Sunset boat ride
- See Spiderman: Far from Home (hey! it’s on my mind: the trailer just dropped today!)
- Visit a new-to-me MA tourist site
- Have my clothes and closets all in order
- ….?
Goodness gracious that was tough. I’m not sure what that says about me: I’m bad at having wishes? Or maybe the things I enjoy are so mundane, it seems foolish to put them on a “wish list” like this? Or I’m just not in a summer frame of mind, it being January. Or I hung myself up on trying to find summer-specific things to put down–after all, I could have said “enjoy Sunday brunch,” which is another one of those always-relevant wishes, but I held back from typing that.
All of which is to say the first 12 items came fairly quickly, the next 7 were like pulling teeth, and if I sit here trying to force a 20th wish from my system, I am never gonna get tonight’s laundry folded.
So 19 it is. Gosh, I feel somewhat pathetic.

* Okay, that’s admittedly a “gimme” category, suitable for all seasons
